From Remington
MODEL 710®
PRODUCT SAFETY WARNING
AND RECALL NOTICE
Remington Arms Company, Inc. is voluntarily recalling a limited number of Model 710 bolt-action rifles as a result of its discovery, during routine test firing, that some Model 710 rifles manufactured between July and October 2002 may have been assembled with an improperly made "Safety Detent Spring." Although unlikely, there is a possibility that the manual safety arm mechanism in such a rifle could fail to fully return to the "safe" or "on" position.
If you own a Model 710 rifle please go to the Remington web site at http://www.remington.com/safety/710/710.asp and enter your serial number to determine if your firearm needs to be inspected or repaired as part of the recall.
WARNING: Use of a rifle with an improperly functioning safety could lead to an accidental discharge, resulting in personal injury, death or property damage. Owners of Model 710 rifles subject to this recall should not attempt to diagnose or repair their rifles themselves.
No other Model 710 rifles, or other models of Remington firearms, are subject to this recall.
Anyone who currently owns or possesses a Model 710 Rifle subject to this recall, or who purchased one and gave it or sold it to another party, should contact Remington immediately by calling 1-800-243-9700, or 1-336-548-8700, Monday through Friday 9 AM – 5PM EST. Remington will assist you in making arrangement to have your rifle inspected and/or repaired by a Remington Authorized Repair Center at no charge to you. To expedite repair program, Remington will send shipping tags to each customer and will cover all related shipping and repair charges. Please do not return your rifle to a Remington Authorized Repair Facility before contacting Remington on the toll-free hotline.
Remington apologizes for this inconvenience, but wants its customers to enjoy the shooting sports safely. It is important, therefore, that owners of Model 710 rifles subject to this recall participate in this program and do not use their rifles before they have been inspected and or repaired.
Safety and safe firearms handling is everyone’s responsibility
Remington
Safety Modification Program
Remington is extending through December 31, 2004, its safety modification program to remove the bolt-lock mechanism from certain Remington bolt-action centerfire firearms made prior to March, 1982. (Post-1982 bolt-action firearms were not manufactured with bolt-lock mechanisms). To determine whether your firearm has a bolt-lock mechanism and is subject to the safety modification program, “click” on the following link http://www.remington.com/Safety_Modification_Program/remington_safety.htm and select your firearm model.
The unloading process for most bolt-action firearms with a bolt-lock mechanism cannot begin unless the manual safety is placed in the ‘F” or “Off or Fire” position. If you participate in the program your firearm will be modified to eliminate the bolt-lock feature and you will be able to unload your firearm while the safety is kept in the “S” or “ On Safe” position. The operation of your firearm will not otherwise be affected.
From Magnum Research
Important Warning Notice to Reloaders of .500 S&W Ammo
Commercial ammunition by Cor®Bon is now being manufactured with rifle primers.
The original ammunition by Cor®Bon used pistol primers. No doubt that both
ammunition types are in circulation as well as brass from Starline that has
primer pockets for both pistol and rifle primers.
You can identify the primer pocket by examining the head-stamp of both Cor®Bon
and Starline brass. Brass manufactured for rifle primers will have the letter
"R" following the word Cor®Bon and the Starline symbol on the head-stamp. If it
does not, the brass has a pistol primer pocket. DO NOT RELOAD RIFLE PRIMERS IN
BRASS DESIGNED FOR USE WITH LARGE PISTOL PRIMERS. The rifle primer pocket in the
brass WITH AN "R" HEADSTAMP is deeper than pistol primer pocket. Rifle primers
will stand "proud" if loaded in brass designed for large pistol primers. This
scenario is unsafe and will significantly increase the possibility of
"simultaneous ignition" in a revolver. Such an event could be catastrophic for
the firearm and the shooter. Please be aware and take care when reloading this
high-pressure revolver cartridge.
Note: Hornady manufactured .500S&W ammunition has and will continue to use large
pistol primers in its commercial product. Do Not attempt to use rifle primers
with Hornady head-stamped .500S&W brass.
Additional note: Use of re-loaded ammunition in all Magnum Research firearms
products voids any and all warranty for that product.

Crosman Corporation Announce Recall of Air Rifles
WASHINGTON,
D.C. - In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC),
Crosman Corporation, of East Bloomfield, N.Y., is voluntarily recalling about
1,500 spring-piston, break-action air rifles.
The air rifles can discharge unexpectedly when the user closes the
barrel, posing a serious risk of injury to consumers and bystanders.
Crosman Corporation has received one report of an air rifle unexpectedly firing, though no injuries have been reported.
The
recalled break-action, spring air rifles include Crosman Model numbers RM177,
RM177X, RM677, RM677X, RM877 and RM622 that were produced before August 2001.
Models produced after that time are not included in this recall.
The recalled air rifles have brown wood stocks, black barrels, and blue
and white striped spacers on the butt plate.
The RM622 shoots .22 caliber air gun pellets; the other models shoot .177
caliber air gun pellets. The RM177X and RM677X were sold with scopes. Each
barrel is imprinted with the model number and the words,
"Manufactured
for Crosman Corp. by Mendoza."
Authorized
dealers, gun shops and sporting goods dealers nationwide sold the air rifles
from June 2001 through August 2001 for between $130 and $250.
Consumers
should stop using these air rifles immediately and contact Crosman Corporation
at (800) 724-7486 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday for
instructions on returning the rifle for a free repair or replacement with a
comparable model. Crosman will also
reimburse consumers for the cost of shipping.
Consumers also can log on to the company's Web site at
www.crosman.com
to view safety and recall information posted since September 2001.

I'm not sure how long this link will be available. The above information come from the Consumer Product Safety Commission. They have an email service that you can subscribe to and get recall notices by email. This is how I got this info, in fact I get these notices before I see them on the news.

RECALL REMINDER
In 1997, Connecticut Valley Arms, Inc., voluntarily implemented a recall of in-line muzzleloading rifles manufactured in 1995 and 1996. If you currently own or possess a CVA in-line rifle with a 95 or 96 serial number, or you purchased one or gave it or sold it to another person, and the barrel has not been replaced, you should contact a Company Representative immediately by calling the customer service number below:
1-770-449-4687(8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST)
To identify the rifle, read the serial number on the barrel opposite the firing bolt. The only CVA rifles subject to the voluntary recall are in-line models with serial numbers ending with the last two digits of 95 or 96. No other firearm models within the CVA product line are affected by the voluntary recall.
